The Point Loma Assembly meets on the second Thursday of each month from

September to June.

November 9, 2017 Meeting

The Band Director of the Dana Middle School Music Program has had to cancel his scheduled November program due to unforeseen circumstances.

Local Author  Dori Salerno, whose spin-off of Pride and Prejudice, entitled “Mrs. Bennet’s Sentiments” was recently named the top new fiction pick by People Magazine, will tell us how she came to write this book and provide some insight into Jane Austin and her real mother. Tired of having her ungrateful girls roll their eyes at her and watching her husband retreat to his man cave, Mrs. Bennet finally tells her side of the story. She defies the conventions of the day...proving the old adage ‘Mother knows best.’ Doors open 3:30pm, program to follow.

December 14th Program

Because one of the most important gifts we can give to children is to foster a love of reading, the Assembly is hosting a Holiday Book Drive on behalf of the reading programs at Cabrillo Elementary School. The purpose of the project is to provide new and gently used books for the library collection and as gifts for the 175 PreK – 5th Grade students. The books will be presented at our December 14 holiday party where our speaker will be Cabrillo Librarian Vanessa Stokely.

You are welcome to bring books from your own collection or purchase books from any retailer. We are please that Assembly Business Sponsor La Playa Books has partnered for the book drive. The store specializes gently used books and will create a special display of appropriate titles from a list compiled by the school librarian. You can find the list at this link.
